I suppose the moral of the story was supposed to be something like “Peace is the way,” but actually it sent a mixed message. Though Zedd helps Richard master his rage, the wizard’s conversation with Kahlan at the end of the hour strongly hints that we will see more of Richard’s dark side and probably learn more about the magic that he has inherited through his Rahl bloodline. I wonder if they will expand on this idea in future episodes. This development seems to be a watered down version of a concept from the books (the D’Harans being bound to the Lord Rahl through magic). Magic binds them to him, so when he goes berserk, they go berserk too. When Richard’s compass points him to the Minders’ camp, he returns and discovers that they are connected to him through one of his Rahl ancestors. She provides an interesting contrast to the Minders’ philosophy. Cara at least had some nice moments with Roga, the leader of the Minders. In quantitative terms, I would give the Minders a 4 out of 7 on the obnoxious scale (i.e., moderately obnoxious). More often than not, I can’t stand the villagers. Most fantasy/sci-fi shows have at least one episode that features a bunch of gentle villagers who refuse to defend themselves because they are so peaceful. This may be one of the bloodiest episodes of the series, but the violence serves to highlight the fact that rage makes the Sword of Truth work. “Fury” brought it, further developing the mythology of the show by expanding on the nature of the Sword of Truth and the magic that Richard has inherited as a Rahl. Matt referred to it as the List twice during the show, while Taliesin confirmed in a tweet that the type of gun was pepperbox while having its own unique name, and later named all 3 pistols with the List as one of them.While I enjoyed the lighthearted Adventures of Young Zeddicus, I was more than ready for a return to the dark intensity that has defined Seeker this season. Percy himself did not refer to this weapon by name, leading to some debate if the name was just made up by fans, or if the proper name was actually 'Pepperbox'.Matt and Taliesin came up with this independently and only found out in the campaign wrap-up that they had the same idea. In the same conversation it was revealed that Matthew Mercer had decided that, if Percy killed everyone on the list then a new list would appear.If Percy had killed all the people on the list, six more names would have appeared in an endless cycle. Instead, the sixth barrel represented a new start and a new list. Despite fan speculation that the sixth, blank barrel was for Percy himself, Taliesin Jaffe has stated that no specific name was originally meant for that barrel.After he did so, Orthax briefly screeched and appeared within the acid pit. Scanlan still threw the gun into a pit of acid, although without charming Percy first.

While Percy battled Orthax, Vex'ahlia and Grog's names appeared on empty barrels in addition to Cassandra's. This tie was severed when Scanlan took the pepperbox and threw it into a pit of acid.

It was eventually discovered that Orthax, the shadow demon Percy had unknowingly made a pact with, was bound to him through The List. The sixth barrel was originally blank, but after Percy returned to Whitestone, the final name appeared: Cassandra de Rolo, Percy's younger sister. The name of the gun came from the inscriptions on five of the six barrels showing the names of people Percy sought vengeance against.
